Moray Offshore Renewables Ltd

Commenting on the news this week that the application from Moray Offshore Renewables Ltd (MORL) had been passed without objection by Councillors on the North Planning Applications Committee of the Highland Council, CNSRP’s independent Chairman Sir Anthony Cleaver said

“The development of offshore renewables sites in the Moray Firth is a significant source of potential future employment opportunity for the north. In particular the east coast ports of Caithness and Sutherland are very well placed to take advantage of this. CNSRP has agreed its priority projects for the coming year: these include opportunities at Scrabster Harbour and Wick John O’Groats Airport, together with the development of Wick harbour’s potential to act as an operations and maintenance base for the offshore wind industry. I am therefore pleased to hear that Highland councillors have recognised this potential. We look forward now to hearing the final outcome of MORL’s application to Marine Scotland, and also look forward to consideration of the application from Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Ltd (BOWL) to develop the other major offshore renewables site in the Moray Firth.”
