Simon Middlemas OBE, appointed Chair of Focus North.
Simon previously served as Naval Superintendent at Vulcan Naval Reactor Test Establishment, before joining Dounreay in 2004, where he became Managing Director from 2006 to 2012. He lives in Scrabster and is also the President of the Thurso branch of the Royal British Legion. He has been a long-time supporter of Focus North, as it has evolved from CNSRP and has been a key figure in driving the organisation’s re-examination of its objectives and approach.
Simon stated, “I’m very honoured to take over the position of Independent Chair of Focus North (was the Caithness and North Sutherland Regeneration Partnership at that point) from Ian Ross at a time where there is so much opportunity for our region, despite the many economic challenges we are all facing now.
“Over the next few months, we will be consulting widely to make sure the partnership is set up to take full advantage of these exciting opportunities locally.”
