The CNSRP Advisory Board met on 21st June to discuss progress with the Partnership Programme, including the welcome news on Wick harbour being confirmed as the operation and maintenance base for the major Beatrice Offshore Windfarm development, and the encouraging progress with the NDA Archive project which is on course to receive its first archive materials later this year.
The members heard a presentation from CNSRP Progamme Manager Eann Sinclair and Simon Middlemas of Cavendish Dounreay Partnership. The presentation focused on future employment potential in the area, and highlighted that – even on a conservative estimate – it was likely that employment prospects for the area were good over the next 5-10 year period. Indeed, the presentation concluded that a key focus for partners would be ensuring that sufficient skills were developed (and workforce in place) to capitalise on these opportunities. Members agreed that the projections did represent a very positive yet realistic view of the area’s future, and encouraged it to be offered to wider audiences, including community groups, school students and parent groups.
